Economic Development
Our agreed Mission Statement is: To secure through partnership, all aspects of sustainable economic, social and community development for those who live in, work in and visit Chester.
The Economic Development Unit
took a lead role in bringing together the key economic development
agencies both in the City and rural areas, to agree a five year
integrated strategy to meet the economic challenges for the
District.
An important aspect of our work is ensuring the allocation, retention and development of land for employment both now and into the future, which includes involvement in district-wide regeneration activities.
We market/promote the District both nationally and internationally for economic development purposes including inward investment, media liaison and events co-ordination.
The Economic Development Unit is a key player in local partnership organisations, which support business development in Chester. We respond to over 11,000 enquiries each year for land, property, and inward investment information from new and existing businesses. We maintain a comprehensive land and property database on available industrial, commercial and retail premises, continue to work with companies by offering an aftercare service, and provide a comprehensive range of background socio-economic information on the District.
Economic Development also co-ordinates the City Centre Management role for Chester. The City Centre Manager works within a partnership of retailers, public agencies, and others concerned with the viability and vitality of our city centre.
