Transport
Your child may be entitled to free school transport if they are between a certain age or if walking distance to their school is above a distance considered reasonable.
In some cases free transport might be available for pupils who do not meet either of these criteria but this is at the discretion of your local education authority (LEA) and you should contact them for more information.

School Travel Plans
A School Travel Plan (External Link) is a document which sets out a number of practical ways to reduce the number of car trips made to a school, to encourage more walking and cycling and to improve safety on the school journey.
Further examples of travel initiatives include: a walking bus, "park and stride" (parking away from the school at designated sites and walking the remainder), cycle training and permit scheme and a voluntary car lift share scheme.
