Roadworks
They may annoy and frustrate, and sometimes you may even think that fate has conspired against you to put roadworks in the middle of an important trip, but there's no denying the work has to be done.
You can reduce roadworks to a minor irritant rather than a major disaster by being aware of where they are going to take place and planning around them.
Cheshire County Council's Highways Maintenance website offers you the perfect way of working around roadworks throughout Cheshire (external link).
Similarly, there are a whole host of website designed to help you negotiate roadworks up and down the country.
But remember, if you do encounter roadworks:
- Keep to the speed limit - it is there for your safety
- Get into the correct lane in good time - don't keep switching
- Concentrate on the road ahead, not the roadworks
- Be alert for works traffic leaving or entering roadworks
- Keep a safe distance - there could be queues in front
- Observe all signs - they are there to help you
- Spare a thought for the road workers, how would you like cars and lorries speeding past you all day.
