Cemeteries and Crematorium

Chester City Council provides cremation and burial facilities.  These include the Crematorium in Blacon Avenue, and 3 cemeteries.  There are two cemeteries at Overleigh (New and Old) in Handbridge, and one at Blacon Avenue.

The Crematorium and Cemetery Grounds are open every day of the year.

The opening hours are as follows:

Monday to Friday
9.00am to 8.00pm (or sunset whichever is earlier)

Weekends and Bank Holidays
10.00am to 8.00pm (or sunset whichever is earlier)

The office is open:-

Monday to Thursday - 8.15am - 4.30pm
Friday - 8.15am - 4.00pm

By bus: Chester City Transport Bus number 2 runs from the bus station in Princess Street (about every 10 minutes).

By car: Please look at the map for directions.

By train: We are approximately 3 miles from Chester railway station and about 1 mile from Bache railway station.
