Workplace Health Connect

Organisations employing between 5 and 250 people can now get free, confidential and impartial advice and support on workplace health, safety and return to work issues. Last year, over 28 million working days were lost at a cost of approximately £10 billion to the UK economy.

Workplace Health Connect aims to address this problem by giving employers the necessary skills to tackle workplace health issues themselves.

The service is made up of an Adviceline, which covers England and Wales, supported by five regional Workplace Health Connect Adviser teams who are delivering free, problem-solving workplace visits.  These teams operate in London, the North West, the North East, the West Midlands and South Wales.  During the visits a trained adviser will give tailored advice to businesses, working with employers to equip them with the skills and resources to tackle workplace health issues themselves in the future.  The service also encourages employers and employees to work together to reduce health and safety risks at work.

Anyone wanting advice and support on workplace health, safety or return-to-work issues can call the Adviceline on 0845 609 6006, and speak to a trained adviser. If appropriate, employers will then be offered a free workplace visit to have a Workplace Health Connect adviser attend their premises.

The service has been designed in consultation with Occupational Health professionals and has been developed in partnership with the Health and Safety Executive.
