Housing Register

Chester and District Housing Trust (CDHT) (external link)  was set up in November 2000 to receive the housing stock formerly owned by the City Council. It is a non profit making registered social landlord (RSL) and as such is regulated by the Housing Corporation.

Whilst CDHT have taken on the role of Registered Social Landlord, the City Council retains the responsibility for prioritisation of applicants on the housing waiting list along with homelessness. The City Council have decided to contract out this work to CDHT from November 2006 for a period of 5 years.

Any applications for housing, or enquiries about housing should therefore be made direct to the Trust at:

Chester Home Choice,
Chester & District Housing Trust,
Centurion House,
77 Northgate Street,
Chester,
CH1 2HQ.

0808 100 7701

You may also apply by printing off the application form and sending to the above address.   Alternatively, contact Chester & District Housing Trust to request a form.

The council & CDHT now operate a Choice Based Lettings System entitled Chester Home Choice (external link).

Under the new scheme, CDHT advertise their vacancies on a weekly basis and applicants can express an interest in the property.  Applicants can express an interest in a variety of ways including on-line. The old points system has now been replaced by a priority banding system which takes account of the housing circumstances of applicants.

The Council will monitor the agreement to ensure that applicants receive fair treatment in the allocation of properties and will analyse the monitoring information to predict future demand for accommodation in the social housing sector.

An information leaflet has been produced by Chester & District Housing Trust's Housing Options Team to provide information about the Council's responsibilities, what the Trust can do to help and the procedure for making a homeless application.
