Little Roodee Coach Arrival Facility
Construction Design and Management (CDM) has been working in partnership with Donald Install Associates, Consulting Architects, to design and implement the construction of a new coach arrival facility at the Little Roodee Car Park. The architects were appointed following a quality and price based tendering exercise and CDM are providing the civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, quantity surveying and planning supervisor services.
The new facility will provide a waiting area, cafe and toilets for all visitors using the car park, and will provide a much needed replacement for the Delamere Street coach park where many of the coach tours used to drop off. As part of the tendering exercise the architects proposed a state of the art sedum planted environmentally friendly "green" roof.
Preparatory site works were completed during 2005 and included carrying out alterations to the existing drainage and car park circulation and the demolition of existing toilet block. Temporary toilets are installed for the duration of the building work. Construction of the new building started in Autumn 2005 and comprises a structural steel frame on piled foundations, stone clad walls, glass curtain walled frontage and a curved steel roof structure finished with the sedum planting. CDM will also be providing some clerk of works supervision on site along with the Consulting Architects.
