Property and Estates
Chester City Council owns or has interest in over 550 properties with an asset value of approx £105.5m. The portfolio ranges from operational properties such as parks and depots to commercial, retail and industrial buildings which produce a rental income of approx £2.5m.
Vacant properties are let on a commercial basis. The Council's Property Management team manage these properties on a day to day basis and their key activities are:
- asset management and the production of the the Asset Management Plan
- negotiating acquisitions and disposals
- negotiating rent reviews and lease renewals
- providing valuation advice to the Council
- Maintaining property records
- developing the Council's portfolio to reflect Council priorities.

Valuations
The City Council has a team of chartered surveyors who are responsible for carrying out the rental and capital valuations of its portfolio.
The Valuation Office (external link) compiles and maintains the valuation list for business rating in England and Wales.
