Recycling Process

Ever wondered what happens to the contents of the pink and green bags that you put out for recycling?

Well...

The pink and green bags are collected on alternate weeks along with your normal refuse collection of black bin bags.

The pink or green bag is placed into one section of the split vehicle separate from the black bags.

The vehicle then takes the black bin bags to the landfill site and the pink or green bags (depending on which week) to the MRF (Materials Reclamation Facility) for processing.

AT THE MRF...

There are two separate processing lines at the MRF.  One for the contents of the pink bags (eg. plastic bottles, cans, tins etc) and one for the contents of the green bags (eg. paper and textiles).
