Reprocessors
After leaving the MRF, the bales of recyclable material are sent to Reprocessors. This is where the material gets recycled into something new. We aim to send materials to the nearest reprocessor available in order to keep transport distances to the minimum possible.
Paper
Paper
(including newspapers and magazines) is sent to Shotton Paper Mill

Plastic Bottles
Plastic bottles
and bags are sent to J&A Young in Leicestershire
where bags are recycled into plastic packaging and refuse
bags. The plastic bottles are washed and turned into pellets which
are then sold to manufacturing companies.
The pellets are melted down and used to make products such as garden furniture, pipes and fleeces.

Steel Cans & Aerosols

Steel cans are sent to CORUS. They are melted down and made into new steel cans or other steel products. Steel can be recycled again and again without losing any quality.
Glass

Glass bottles and jars are sent to Recreso in Ellesmere Port. They are colour sorted and then chopped into small fragments called 'cullet' which is then sent to Quinn Glass near Elton to be made into new glass bottles. Click on the following link to visit the Recresco website: Recresco
Aluminium Cans
Aluminium cans and foil are sent to Novelis in Warrington. They are melted down and formed into huge blocks of aluminium which are then sold to be made into new aluminium cans and other aluminium products. Click on the following link to visit the Novelis website: Novelis (external link)
Card & Envelopes
Cardboard, envelopes and telephone directories sent to Biffa in Altrincham and recycled into cardboard packaging.
