Sports Awards

Chester City Council through it Sports Development Team aims to ensure all young people have access to quality sporting opportunities that attract and maintain their interest both during and after their school years.

Playing sport can promote leadership skills, improve physical development and provide young people with a broad range of social skills. To this end Chester City Sports Development support a range of grants and awards to reward the community and its clubs and coaches.

Junior Sports Achiever of the Year

This category is for an individual who has competed at the highest standard and who has had the greatest achievements in their sport this year.

Junior Team of the Year

Awarded to a team / squad that has made significant progress or achievement this year.

Club Development Award

This trophy will be awarded to the club that has made a significant contribution to sporting activity in the Chester District particularly for young people.

Club / School Coach of the Year

This award is for a coach / teacher who has made a significant contribution to the success of an individual, sports team or squad in the last year.

Special Recognition Award

This award will be presented to an individual who has made a huge impact on sport in the Chester area either as a coach, player or volunteer.

Guidance for applicants

Applicants for the Junior Sports Award must be aged 17 or under on 1 January of year of application and or a pupil of a Chester High School. 

All nominations will be looked at by a panel of judges who will make their decisions based on the information on the nomination form only.

Please ensure all relevant sections are completed, the number in the brackets identifies the category applying for.
