Chester Credit Union - The Practical way to manage your money

Do you live or work in the Chester & District area including Saltney?

If so, you are entitled to join the ever-increasing ranks of those experiencing the benefits the Chester Credit Union provides.

Based on a co-operative savings scheme run and controlled by its members, credit unions were established in the UK back in the early 1960s and since then have gone on to serve members of communities both large and small. One of the largest credit unions in the UK serves over 11,000 members.

The Chester Credit Union was established in 2004 to provide:

  • Access to affordable loans
  • Individual control over one's finances
  • Security of savings through the Credit Union's insurance scheme
  • Free life insurance protection on savings and loans
  • No hidden charges
  • The knowledge that savings are being used within the community
  • Opportunity to volunteer and learn new skills.

The Chester Credit Union encourages members to develop a regular pattern of saving to build a reserve which they may then use for holidays, Christmas, birthdays etc

Saving is more than the 'rainy day' culture. People who save regularly develop both greater financial literacy skills and a heightened awareness of how by saving a little amount each week could make the difference to those special occasions.

One of the aims of the Chester Credit Union is to provide access to services locally, by this we mean in the heart of the community. As the Chester Credit Union expands and grows its membership our vision is to have collection points district wide, from the urban areas of Chester, to outlying rural villages.
