Out of Hours Services
Doctor
If you need medical advice when surgeries are closed you should still phone your GP practice as you have always done in the past.
When you ring your GP practice, you will hear a message asking you to ring another number or your call will be re-routed directly to the Out of Hours Service.
An NHS call handler will answer your call. They will take details from you and ask one of a team of specially trained and experienced nurses to call you back within a specified time. The nurse will then phone you, listen to what you say, assess your symptoms and agree with you the best course of action.

There may times when you need access to a pharmacy out of normal working hours. There are normally a number of local chemists that offer an out of hour service - often this is rotated between a number of local pharmacies.
