People
Adults and older people may require just as much specialist help as other groups. Quite often, however, they're not aware of the sort of help available to them.
Residential and Nursing Homes - There are two main types of care home - nursing and residential. Some can offer short-term stays but normally they are for more long term or permanent care. Find out more about the homes in Cheshire here.
Services for Elderly People - Cheshire Social Services provide services to older people and their families. Its aim is to help them remain as independent as possible, within their own home or in a residential/nursing care home.
Community Meals Service - Also known as Meals on Wheels. Community Meals can be delivered to your home in two ways Hot or Frozen. The Hot Meals are delivered at lunch time, by a contractor appointed by the County Council. The Frozen Meals can be delivered on a weekly or fortnightly basis by the County Council's supplier, who provides the meals for both services.
Protecting Vulnerable Adults - Cheshire County Council Social Services, with the support of the Police, Health Organisations, Housing, and the Voluntary and Independent Organisations have launched a campaign to stop the abuse of vulnerable adults
Alarms for the Elderly - There are a range of initiaitves designed to allow people to retein their independence by providing alarm systems for the home. Generally, these are in the form of discreet personal communications system that summon help, at the touch of a button in case of accident or emergency.
