Being in good shape mentally helps you deal with the pressures you face. If you are worried about your own mental health, seeking help early gives you the best chance of recovery. Visit your GP or contact the Social Service's Access Team (External link) who can provide additional information.

Mind runs the MindinfoLine on 0845 766 0163 (Mon-Fri, 9.15am 5.15pm), providing information and support. Interpreters are available in more than 100 languages and the line also provides advice to deaf or speech-impaired enquirers

Children
Children are just as prone to mental health issues as adults - some find it difficult to cope or do not get the support they need to feel safe, happy and confident. If your child is feeling distressed or troubled, they may express their unhappiness in a number of ways.

- Young Minds parents' information service on 0800 018 2138 provides confidential advice for any adult concerned about the mental health or emotional well-being of a child or young person
- Parentline Plus helpline on 0808 800 2222 provides help and information for anyone caring for children
- ChildLine on 0800 1111 offers help to young people in trouble or danger
