The main role of Cheshire Social Services is to support:

Children and young people under the age of 18 and their families;

  • Young people who have been cared for by us;
  • Adults and older people with physical disabilities, learning disabilities;
  • mental health or drug or alcohol related problems;
  • Older people to help them remain in their own homes and
  • Carers, that is family and friends who look after others.

Mental Health Issues - Being in good shape mentally helps you deal with the pressures you face. If you are worried about your own mental health, seeking help early gives you the best chance of recovery.

Needs Assessment - Before Social Services can arrange services for you or your family, you need to have an assessment.

Occupational Therapy - Occupational Therapy helps people live more productive lives. It enables people with disabilities to carry out essential activities, with the aim of maintaining or improving independence.

Direct Payments - A direct payment is a cash payment to allow you to buy your own support instead of Social Services providing it for you. You can use the money to employ a personal assistant or you can use an agency to provide staff for you.

Home Care Services - Care in your own home is offered to people who require assistance, it may be with personal care such as washing or dressing, or other practical daily tasks such as help with domestic chores like cooking and cleaning, or in some instances, help in managing your finances.
