Work is now well underway at the Amphitheatre Site in the second year of the project. Below you will find information on what the archaeologists have found out, what they are planning to do, and also updates on their progress.

The Areas

To view information on the different Areas of the project click one of the links below:

  • Area A - The biggest trench taking up most of the West side of the Amphitheatre banking.
  • Area B - A previously unexcavated smaller trench, close to St Johns Church and in the grounds of Dee House
  • Area C - A large, deep trench that was largely excavated in 2003.
