Area Summaries: Summer 2004

Regular viewers of the website will have been following the work in the various trenches through the excavation areas page. Now, after the first years digging, this section has the complete run down of what exactly what has been unearthed, and the various conclusions as to what they mean.

These summaries focus on Area A and Area B, because very little work was carried out in Area C this year.

The Areas

  • Area A - The biggest trench taking up most of the West side of the Amphitheatre banking.
  • Area B - A previously unexcavated, smaller trench, close to St Johns Church and in the grounds of Dee House.
