The Chester City Council ‘Explorers’ Club’ were able to join the archaeologists at Chester’s most important excavation in recent years. The children aged between 8 and 16 had an opportunity to learn basic excavation techniques, carry out finds processing and look the most exciting discoveries this year.

Not only did the children thoroughly enjoy the experience but many passers-by commented to the archaeologists how pleased they were to see children involved in the project.

The explorers also had the opportunity to experiencing some of the cleaning and processing that takes place away from the mud.
