Time Team at the Apmhitheatre

Chester Amphitheatre will once again be the focus of TV cameras when Channel 4's Time Team programme visits the site on Tuesday, July 5.

Presenter Katy Knapman will be dropping in on city council archaeologist Dan Garner and English Heritage archaeologist Tony Wilmott at the amphitheatre, as well as filming the City Walls and other historical features in Chester.
The footage will be broadcast later that day between 8-9pm as part of Time Team's Big Roman Dig week - a series of programmes focusing on digs up and down the country.

The main emphasis in the Chester area will be the on-going excavations at Heronbridge, which are being overseen by the Chester Archaeological Society, but the work at Chester Amphitheatre will help place the Heronbridge dig in its wider historical and archaeological context.

The programme makers will be based at the Heronbridge dig on both Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6 and footage broadcast in the evenings.
