Lead partner on the 3 year Interreg IIIB SPAA project starting on 1 April 2005, which will focus on the Sustainable Promotion of Atlantic Areas, and has six partners in five countries. / Lead partner on the 3 year LODIS project, funded by the EU Recite II programme in 1998, focussing on local distinctiveness supporting the local economy. The project had six transnational partners. / Co-partner in other EU funded projects including: CultMark – a three year (Jan 2004) Interreg IIIC funded project to develop place-marketing; Ecosert - a three year EU Recite II project (1998) to develop sustainable rural tourism, with three other European partners; and Water in Historic City Centres - a three year on-going Interreg IIIB project, to use 'historic' water as an asset in historic city centres, working with four transnational partners.

Lucca is partner of an Interreg IIIB project, ‘MEROPE’. This takes action on environment and management aspects related to the goods traffic in the historic centres of towns involved; lead the urban logistics toward sustainability and further development. Lucca’s aim is to produce a feasibility study and building a Logistic Service Centre for Commerce.
Lörrach is affiliated with the Economic region of Dreilandereck Hochrhein with the BioValley under the Interreg Programme. Lörrach supported the latest twinning meeting between three twin cities in November 2003. The event was funded by the EU. Under the Leonardo da Vinci EU action programme 'Europe Administration Exchange', Lörrach participated in the exchange by sending apprentice for a weeks training to 2 sister cities.
Verona is a partner in an Interreg IIIC west project called INHERIT, Investing in Heritage to Regenerate Heritage Cities which started in 2005. Currently Verona is involved in a DAPHNE-II programme, Local and Web Community against domestic violence which runs till 2008. Verona was involved with an Urb-Al project led by Madrid, which exchanged technical administrative knowledge with cities from Europe and Latin America. A three year project under Culture 2000 – EDN, established cooperation amongst European institutions, working in the field of Art and Design. Verona has recently completed a project, Eurobionet, under the LIFE programme. Currently Verona is involved in a continuation of the Urbal project.
UWE, Bristol was Lead Partner for the META- Marine Ecotourism in the Atlantic Area - an INTERREG IIC project (2000-2002). David Bruce, (Academic Adviser to ARCHWAY), was a leading member of the co-ordinating team for the project as well as contributing studies on tourism transport and the evaluation of the sustainability of tourism. Other recent European Project experience has included 'A Spatial Vision for North West Europe (1999-2001) led by UWE and as a supporting partner for Port Cities both also INTERREGiiC. UWE also contributed to European Spatial Planning Research and Information Network (ESPRIN) (1999-2000) which drafted the European Spatial Development Perspective
