Year 2 Evaluation of Area
Committees
The establishment of Area Committees and Area Working in April 2003 included a commitment to monitor and evaluate the work. The attached Year 2 Evaluation was carried out by external consultants (Opinion Research Services) between April and August 2005.
It included a detailed literature review to set the work within the national and local framework of the modernising agenda. The evaluation also included an intensive consultation programme including face to face interviews, telephone interviews and focus groups covering a wide range of stakeholders. These included council officers, City and County Council Members (and specific work with Chairs and Deputy Chairs of Area Committees) and residents, including a focus group for residents belonging to ethnic minority groups.
The Evaluation findings will be incorporated into the recommendations of the Community Services Review Committee and the action points arising from the Area Working Improvement Plan to provide a comprehensive way forward for Area Committees and Area Working, that take into account corporate plans and priorities and the views of stakeholders, including residents.
