Twin Towns and International Links
Having welcomed visitors
from all over the world for many decades Chester has made great
strides over the last years, to consolidate its links with
communities in other parts of the world.
Chester has adopted a twinning strategy to help manage these relationships with communities overseas.
Chester has gained international recognition for the work that it does with partners overseas through the European Prize system and the award in November 2004 of the "European Flag of Honour"
The Chester International Links Association (CILA)

Established in 1993 aims to help the people of Chester and the surrounding district to take charge of the links between the people of our community and those from communities all over the world.
Through the Association, Chester has now completed its rare four-way twinning links with:
Sens

Sens is situated approximately 75 miles South East of Paris, on the northern tip of Burgundy. It sits on the banks of the river Yonne, at the crossing point into the Ill de France, Champagne, and the Central Region of France. The Sennonaise benefit from the unique priviledge of being at the economic crossroads of the area.
Senigallia
Set in the Marche region, Senigallia is situated on
Italy's Adriatic coast just north of Ancona.. Senigallia boasts a
famous 12 km beach known locally as the "Spiaggia di Velluto"
(Beach of Velvet) and welcomes many hundreds of thousands of
visitors each year. It also retains much of its heritage in its
historic centre, 16th century Town Hall (above), Ducal Palace and
15th century Fortress della Roverie. http://www.comune.senigallia.an.it/

Lörrach
Lörrach is in a special geographical position right on the
borders of the Alsace in France, Basel in Switzerland and the Black
Forest region of Germany. A centre for arts and music, Lörrach has
a Mediterranean feel and teems with life. http://www.loerrach.de/ (external
