Chester in Europe

Aim

To maximise the benefits from Europe to the District and to contribute in a positive manner to the emerging European Community.

Objectives

• to help the local business community to maximise the benefits and recognise the threats presented by the Single European Market
• to promote the interests of Chester and the local economy within the widening European and World markets
• to create greater awareness of European issues through the improved dissemination of information
• to encourage the development of environmentally sensitive practice in line with European directives, in both public and private sectors
• to help the region have a beneficial impact on future European and National policies and to work in collaboration with other regions within Europe
• to ensure that the main principles of a European Strategy are translated into practical proposals within other council strategies and proposals
• to support the above proposals by maximising the level of European grant support to the District.
