Activities

In most parts of the district there are Social Clubs run for, and by, older people, as well as clubs and societies which welcome people of all ages. Clubs for older people are often held in church halls and community centres, and may run at a certain time each week through most of the year. There are also some luncheon clubs, run by WRVS or local volunteers. Information about clubs and other activities may be obtained from your local Council for Voluntary Service 01244 316587. Exercise Classes - Activities at Northgate Arena

Every Tuesday there are “Get Active Pilates” and Get Active Mature Movers” sessions at the Northgate Arena which are both aimed specifically at older people.

Age Concern Cheshire – provide many types of exercise sessions throughout the district ranging from golf to horse riding. Please call 01244 677777 for details, or click this link for an example of activities available.

Western Cheshire Primary Care Trust

Western Cheshire Specialist Health Promotion Service develops programmes which aim to maximise the health and well-being of individuals and communities, therefore reducing health inequalities.

They work to support beneficial lifestyle and behavioural changes, facilitating informed choice through information and education.

Examples of services they provide include:

-        Generic health improvement

-        Smoking cessation

-        Weight management

-        Active ageing programme
