A Safer Chester

Chester Community Safety Partnership Logo

Chester Community Safety Partnership is a collaboration of different local authorities and partners from around the Chester District. We aim to combat Crime & Disorder and Anti-Social Behaviour and create A Safer Chester.

The Crime & Disorder Act 1998 (as amended by the Police Reform Act 2002) sets out statutory requirements for Public Authorities to work with each other to develop and impliment strategies to tackle Crime & Disorder in their area. These statutory partnerships are known as Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP's) or Community Safety Partnerships.

The 'responsible authorities' are;

  • The Police
  • Local Authorities
  • Fire Authorities
  • Police Authorities
  • Primary Care Trusts

Working together, these responsible authorities are required to;

  • Conduct an audit of Crime & Disorder, including Anti-Social Behaviour and the Misuse of Drugs
  • Consult the ommunity at large on the results of the audit
  • Prepare a three year strategy to reduce Crime & Disorder
  • Monitor progress and review the strategy

Chester Community Safety Partnership has now undertaken it's third audit of Crime & Disorder in Chester and an audit report was published in January 2005. The finding from the audit have helped inform the priorities outlined in the new Crime & Disorder Reduction Strategy.
