Community Safety Wardens
Chester residents have a new friend on the streets
this summer thanks to the launch of a groundbreaking scheme.
Our Community Safety Wardens have been "on the ground" since the start of July, providing a new weapon in the fight against crime and the fear of crime.
The service has been a long held ambition of the city council to help to improve the quality of life in the district.
The new team of
professionals help tackle anti-social behaviour, monitor the local
environment and provide a friendly, reassuring face in the
community.
The wardens work closely with our environmental protection and CCTV teams, as well as Police, Fire Service and other organisations to help combat 'crime and grime' problems.
They wear distinctive uniforms and have special powers to deal with low level nuisance and environmental crime like graffiti, vandalism, abandoned cars, dog fouling and litter.
The Wardens reach communities in high visibility vehicles bearing the new Warden logo and also patroll on bicycles and foot, making them easy to recognise and approach.
The Community Safety Wardens are available seven days per week 10am to 10pm. However there is flexibility in these hours depending on the demands on the team and the issues being dealt with.
