Who are We and What Do We Do?

Community Safety Wardens: 'Eyes and ears' of Chester communities.

The Chester City Council Community Safety Wardens have been 'on the ground' since the start of July 2005, providing a new force in the fight against crime and the fear of crime.

The service has been a long held ambition of Chester City Council to help to improve the quality of life in the district.

The new team of professionals help tackle anti-social behaviour, monitor the local environment and provide a friendly, reassuring face in the community.

The Wardens work closely with our Environmental protection and CCTV teams, as well as Police, Fire Service and other organisations to help combat 'crime and grime' issues.

The Wardens wear distinctive uniforms and have special powers to deal with low level nuisance and environmental crime like graffiti, vandalism, abandoned cars, dog fouling and litter.

The Wardens reach communities in high visibility vehicles bearing the new Warden logo and also patrol on bicycles and foot, making them easy to recognise and approach.

Our Aims

We want to:

  • Improve the quality of life for everybody.
  • Reduce fear of crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Create a cleaner, safer, greener Chester.
