Huntington Ward

Huntington is a parish and ward, consisting of both residential and farming areas, which lies some two miles south east of Chester Cross.

The old side of the village has pre-war housing (Butterbache Road) and the newer side is approximately 25 years old. At present, the unoccupied old army camp site, Saighton Camp, is awaiting planning permission for development.

Huntington has plenty of open spaces, including the Jubilee Field (consisting of five acres, a football pitch and a children's play area), the village green and Saighton Camp.  Caldy Nature Park is also partly within the ward and consists of 30 acres of wetland, woodland and meadows. There is an active Friends of Caldy Nature Park, who organise events throughout the year.

For young people in the area, there are Beavers, Cubs and Scouts held at the scout hut and Brownies, Guides, dance classes and ju jitsu in Huntington Village Hall. Once a month, the Busy Bees children's club is held in the only church in the ward St Luke's Church. For very young children, there are registered childminders, an under-fives playgroup at the village hall, and a pre-school nursery attached to Huntington Primary School.

Older people in Huntington are also well served with activities. There is a seniors club and a luncheon club. The Women's Institute meets once a month in village hall, and there are flower shows held at Walkers Nursery.  Huntington has a good road network and easy access for cars into the city centre. There is a regular bus service and the Dial-a-Ride service. The A55 cuts through the village but there is no access on to it at this point.

There are a few village shops and a post office on Chester Road, and Walkers Nursery on Aldford Road. There are several local employers, including the waterworks, a hairdressers, Hartwells Garage on Chester Road and the Old Hall Country Club and Spa on Aldford Road.
