Council Continuity Plan

The Civil Contingencies Act (2004) requires local authorities, as Category 1 Responders, to maintain plans to ensure that they can continue to exercise their functions in the event of an emergency.  The duty relates to all functions, not just their emergency response functions.

The council will endeavour to continue to deliver its normal services, even when dealing with an emergency, however we recognise that under some circumstances this may not be possible.

The Corporate Business Continuity Plan has been developed to deal with such circumstances.  It identifies those critical services which we will continue to deliver if normal services have to be reduced for a short period during an emergency situation

This Corporate Business Continuity Plan has been tested through exercise and will be reviewed and exercised annually.
