Census 2001
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) released Part 1 of the Key Statistics for local authorities in February 2003. These consisted of 34 tables providing results from the 2001 Census on topics including population, ethnicity, religion, health, qualifications, economic and household characteristics.
This summary focuses on change by looking at differences for key results between the 1991 and 2001 Censuses. Consultation for the 2001 Census resulted in changes to questions, concepts and definitions which meant that many topic areas were excluded from direct comparison with 1991 results.
