e-Government
e-Gov
Electronic
or e-Government is a major revolution in how local Government
delivers its services, leads the community and communicates with
its stakeholders.
Within Chester City Council, 'Connecting Chester' is the e-Government programme of change. Connecting Chester coordinates the array of projects which use technology to modernise, improve and deliver local public services to citizens and businesses within Chester district.
In previous years, central Government monitored the plans and progress of all local authorities in achieving e-Government targets through regular Implementing Electronic Government (IEG) statements.
t-Gov
Transformational or t-Government goes beyond
e-Government. As the benefits of our e-Gov investments are
realised, the focus is now on the transformation of structures and
services which use technology, resulting in further service
improvements and efficiency savings. Central Government
published 'Transformational
Government - Enabled by Technology' (External Link) in November
2005.
Citizen Empowerment
What does this mean for me? More and more services can be accessed how, when and from wherever you want. Our increasing accessibility will enable you to contact us in whatever way is most convenient for you. Combined with 24/7 online services, we are making it easy and enhancing the experience you have when you are in contact with us.
Partnership
To achieve improvements more efficiently we continue to work with our partners.
Chester City Council and Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council (External Link) are committed to working together. Our strategic ICT partnership has and will continue to develop and extend accessible quality services for people living in both districts. Our priorities have been defined by the recent publication of a joint Information, e-Gov & Technology Strategy.
Both councils are active members of the Cheshire, Warrington & Halton Information Consortium (CWHIC) (External Link) public service partnership. CWHIC was formed to deliver collaborative customer services across the Cheshire, Halton and Warrington areas. Its current focus is upon shared ICT systems and a programme of work to improve information sharing.
Regionally, Chester City Council is a member of the North West e-Government Group (NWeGG) (External Link). NWeGG runs a large number of knowledge building workshops, learning events, training courses, networking events and projects for the benefit of North West local authorities.
