Home Composting is a great way to use all those vegetable peelings and scraps and save money on buying compost. 35% of the average household rubbish is kitchen waste and if sent to landfill produces methane and other greenhouse gases.
Kitchen waste can be stored in 'Kitchen Caddies' (See picture above) that can prevent the decomposition process for up to a week. This can reduce the number of trips you have to make to your compost bin (especially on cold winter mornings). Details of purchasing 'Kitchen Caddies' and other accessories are provided with the compost bins.
Cardboard is also great for the compost bin - everything from egg boxes to toilet rolls. Garden trimmings can also be composted.
Even the smallest of gardens can have a compost bin as shown by Tom (left). The finished compost can also be used for potted plants and window boxes.
