The Council owns and operates 12 pay and display car parks throughout the City centre, supplying 2740 spaces (just over 50% of the total number of parking spaces available in Chester). In 2003/2004, 1,375,000 vehicles used the Council's car parks.

A number of other car parks are owned and operated by National Car parks (NCP),Tesco, Cheshire County Council and the Racecourse Company.

The regulations governing the use of the City Council car parks are set out in Traffic Regulation Orders. These Orders are made under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

If you wish to view the Orders or request a copy, please contact the Parking Services Office.

Sat Nav Users - More and more drivers are relying on satellite navigation and GPS systems to get them to their desired destination.  To help you find your way to Chester's Car Parks and Park and Ride stations, we've included details of the relevant postcodes to make your trip even easier.

Disabled Badge Holders (Blue Badge Scheme)

The Council has two parking areas dedicated to disabled badge holders in Frodsham Street and Hamilton Place (four hour maximum stay).

In addition, disabled badge holders may park free of charge for up to four hours on any City Council pay and display car park, with the exception of Trinity Street.

If you wish to stay longer than four hours, please purchase a pay and display ticket for the additional time and display the ticket next to your badge and clock.

Please ensure your badge and clock are clearly displayed in your vehicle.

Pre-paid Parking

You can pay in advance to park on any of our car parks, as long as sufficient notice is given to enable us to send a permit out to you.

This is ideal if you are visiting the City to attend business or social events, and want to park without the worry of having sufficient change for the pay and display machines, especially if you are staying for several days.

The cost of parking is based on the current fees and payment by cheque, debit/credit card, must be received before we can send the permit out to you.

For further information, please contact the parking services office or download a Pre-paid Parking Application Form. (17kb) This document is a PDF file
