Local Development Framework

Chester City Council currently has a Local Plan in place which contains planning policies to control new development, protect important sites and buildings and set aside new sites for particular types of development (such as houses, shops and businesses).

The government changed the planning system in 2004 to replace Local Plans with a new style of plan called a Local Development Framework. A Local Development Framework consists of a number of different documents. Some of these documents deal with broad strategic issues and others deal with specific areas or particular sites.

We are currently in the early stages of developing our Local Development Framework and are consulting on the following documents:

 

Draft Supplementary Planning Document (SPD): Tattenhall Village Design Statement

This document which supplements adopted Local Plan policies will form part of the Local Development Framework (LDF) for the District. The Council supports and aims to facilitate the adoption of Village Design Statements and Parish Plans as Supplementary Planning Documents where appropriate and to this end the Statement is going out for consultation in line with the planning regulations. The above documents are available for comment for a period of 6 weeks. Please return any comments by 4.45pm on Monday 29 September 2008.

The Council are in the early stages of preparing the above SPD. It is anticipated that a draft document will be issued for consultation early in the new year.
