Chester City Council respects the privacy of all site visitors and subsequently complies with the Data Protection Act of 1998. The information you provide will be used by us to carry out improvements to our services. Information communicated via the Internet could be detected by third parties and any information you send to us is at your own risk.

Information that you provide about yourself whilst making payments online will be used for the following purposes:

  • To provide us with management information about trends of behaviour relating to purchasing.
  • To deliver any goods that you purchase.

Chester City Council does not sell, trade or rent personal information to others although we may share this information with other public bodies and organisations that may be of help to you. We only use cookies for collecting user information when processing online orders and payments.  Outside the area of online payments we will not collect any information about you except that specifically identified below.

This privacy policy only covers the Website at http://www.chester.gov.uk/. Links within this site to other websites are not covered by this policy.

If you may submit information via forms etc, you are deemed to have consented to the collection, processing and storage of that information.

The following terms and conditions apply to all online payments made to Chester City Council.

Please read them carefully before making an online payment. By using the online payments facility on this web site you accept these terms;

Your payment will take a minimum of four working days to reach the account to which you are making a payment. You should take this into account when making your payment.

  1. All payments will be processed on the information that you provide.. We cannot accept liability if you make a mistake while completing a form or for any other reason outside of our control. You will be given an opportunity to review the data that you have entered before submitting it for processing. When making a booking, for example, you are responsible for selecting the correct date and time for the performance that you wish to attend.
    You should take care to click the 'buy' button once only as clicking 'buy' more than once before receiving confirmation may result in a second charge being made to your account.
  2. We cannot accept liability if payment is refused or declined by your credit/debit card supplier for whatever reason.
  3. If your credit/debit card supplier declines payment, we are not advised of the reason and you should check with your bank or credit/debit card supplier to make sure that payment has not been deducted from your account. 

Confirmation of payment

Confirmation of your payment will be made via email if you supply a valid email address. An option is provided to print the screen details confirming that your payment has been made.

Legal Statement

We may also share your information with other public bodies such as government departments and local authorities.  We will not pass any of your information to any other organisation unless either you ask us to do it or the law requires us to.

We will ensure that your personal information is used intelligently, so that we treat you as our customer and minimise inefficiency.  It is important to us that we co-ordinate what we do for you properly.  As a result, when you tell us that you are moving address or changing your name, we will try and make it as easy as we can for you.  We will try to keep all of our records up to date with your name and address details.  By doing that we are able to:

  • provide you with a better level of service, ensuring that our information about you is accurate and up to date;
  • ensure that public (taxpayers’) money is spent wisely and efficiently;
  • avoid people being paid money to which they are not entitled;
  • avoid having to ask people to pay money back when it has been paid to them incorrectly;
  • reduce fraud and crime generally.
