National Curriculum, Literacy and Outreach

National Curriculum Work

National Curriculum Work can be done using a mix and match selection of what we have on offer. This usually involves a Handling Session, work in the Museum Galleries and work in the City. Chester Education Staff  lead the Handling Sessions in the Museum and will also work with you in the City.

Chester for Literacy

Chester can provide an excellent context for your literacy work. Whatever Year Group or Term you are in, contact grosvenormuseum@chester.gov.uk to discuss ideas and resources. We can work with you in Chester, or alternatively, we can make an outreach visit to your school. This term for example, has seen the Roman Galleries used to set and solve a murder mystery, whilst the illustrations from the tombstones were used in a classroom to stimulate work on idiomatic phrases.

Outreach

If it is difficult to bring your class to Chester, why not book a Roman, Tudor or Victorian Outreach Session? An Education Officer will visit your school with a selection of artefacts and deliver a lesson which develops appropriate skills concepts and attitudes.
