Printed copies will be available from Chester libraries and participating buildings in August.
We have just heard that Mostyn House School Chapel in Neston will be open this year - the chapel will be open on Saturday 13th September, 2pm to 4.30pm.
The chapel is a Grade II listed building, which was completed in 1897, with an impressive collection of stained glass windows, including seven by Robert Anning Bell. There are many plaques to former pupils and friends of the school, including two holders of the VC. There is also a plaque dedicated to three huskies, who saved the life of Sir Wilfred Grenfell, the missionary doctor in Labrador and Newfoundland, in the early 20th century. A self guided tour round the chapel will be available for visitors.
Mostyn House School Chapel is approached from Grenfell Park, off Station Road, Parkgate, Neston.
Heritage Open Days Launches in Chester
Chester Racecourse was the venue for the National launch of Heritage Open Days 2008. The Lord Mayor of Chester Cllr Brian Bailey welcomed Maria Adebowale, Commissioner for English Heritage, Philip Kolvin, Chairman Civic Trust and Donald Insall.

After hearing from the guest speakers, organised walking tours were arranged to give a taste of the Heritage Open Days weekend.
A Background to Heritage Open Days
Heritage Open Days celebrates England's fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission.

Properties of every age, type and size in Chester district will be opened, including churches, schools, halls, historic sites and historic buildings.
It is a once-a-year chance to discover hidden architectural treasures and enjoy a wide range of tours, events and activities which bring to life local history and culture
Free of charge and literally on people's doorstep, Heritage Open Days is an event for everyone, whatever their background, age and ability.
Co-ordinated nationally by the Civic Trust (external link) in
partnership with English
Heritage (external link), the event thrives on the
enthusiasm and expertise of local people. In Chester, The Chester
Cvic Trust and The Council work closely on this to make it a
memorable celebration and incidently, a contribution to England's
largest voluntary cultural event.
