13 Grosvenor Bridge
When opened in 1832 by Princess Victoria this elegant bridge had the widest single stone span (61m) in the world. It was designed by Chester's Georgian architect Thomas Harrison as part of the road improvements to Holyhead. He died in 1829 before it was completed. It is constructed of creamy-grey sandstone from the Peckforton Hills to the south of Chester.
