You take the high ground...
For breathtaking views across the Cheshire Plain, follow the Sandstone or Gritstone Trails over Cheshire’s higher ground, climb up to the Medieval ruins of 13th century Beeston Castle perched on its high outcrop, orwalk along the dramatic, 343m-high ridge known as the Cloud, where you will also discover burial mounds dating back to the Stone Age, and the 18th century folly ofMow Cop Castle, a familiar landmark from miles around. You could even climb to the tip of Tegg’s Nose on the edge of the Peak District.
... I’ll take the low ground
With more than 200 miles ofwaterways, Cheshire has a greater length of canals than any other English county. Rent a canal boat by the day, take a river trip on a show boat orwalk the delightful tow paths, providing ideal routes for peaceful strolls through some of the county’s hidden countryside.
