Cheshire Military Museum
An interesting
innovative and attractive museum in Chester Castle, a Grade I
Listed Building. It is always developing new ideas to interpret the
stories of the men of the Regiments of Cheshire. These include the
Cheshire Regiment, the Cheshire Yeomanry, the 3rd Carabiniers and
the 5th Inniskilling Dragoons. With special activities,
events and exhibitions throughout the year there is something for
everyone.
Admission Charge is £2.00 per Adult and £1.00 Concs.Opening Times 10am to 5pm daily (last entry 4 30).

One of the best ways to appreciate Chesters' 2000 years of history is to take one of our fully guided open-top sightseeing tours. Tours last 55 minutes but your ticket is valid all day so you may get on and off the tour as you please. Frequent departures every day from various stops around the city including the Station, the River Dee, Town Hall and Lower Bridge Street. Save money with a bus and boat tour ticket which includes a trip with Bithells Boats on the River Dee. Tickets can be purchased from the Chester Visitor Centre, the Tourist Information Centre or from the driver of the bus.

Chester Cathedral
There has been a church on this site for over 1,000 years. Orignally a Saxon Minster, then rebuilt as a Benedictine Abbey, this magnificent building has been the Cathedral of the Diocese of Chester since 1541.
Intricately carved Quire stalls are the finest in the UK, almost 800 years old. Medieval shrine of St. Werburgh with modern works of art and stained glass.
The Cloisters and Church form one of the most complete medieval monastic complexes in the country.

Dewa Roman Experience
Deva is the Roman fortress built almost 2000 years ago which now lies buried beneath the hustle and bustle of modern day Chester. Now you too can visit the Roman fortress of Deva - pronounced 'Dewa' in Roman times.
Touch the past yourself in our 'hands-on' studio. This area has activities for everyone, which range from trying on a replica suit of Roman armour, to handling Roman pottery and animal bones.

Guided Walks
One of the best ways to discover Chester's 2000 years of history is to join one of the many walking tours from the Chester Visitor Centre (CVC), Vicars Lane (opposite the Roman Amphitheatre) and the Tourist Information Centre (TIC), Town Hall Square. Tickets for all walking tours are available from both locations and details are available from the Sightseeing Tours section of this site.
